How can I tell what year is my kx80?The person who I bought it from claims its an 87 but I think its a 88 so how can I tell what year my bike is? Also could I mod this bike in anyway?

There are lots of mods for that bike. But as far as telling what year it is I have no clue.

look underneath the handlebars but in front of the gas tank there should be a tag attached that will tell you what year it is .

Find the 17 digit VIN number on the frame and look at the 10th digit if the 10th digit is:

B=81
C=82
D=83
E=84
F=85
G=86
H=87
J=88
K=89
L=90
M=91
N=92
P=93
R=94
S=95
T=96
V=97
W=98
X=99
Y=00
1=01
2=02
3=03
4=04

Hey i just found out what year my KX 80 was also. CHILI is right. IT is th tenth digit of the seventeen code. 1194 RULES~!!!!!

Hi just been reading your comments ive just bought a kx 80 for my son it needs new piston and rings ive looked at the chart above and its sayin mine is a 02 model but i cant find a gasket set on ebay for a 02 model and the frame hasnt got a 17 digit frame number its only got 12 digit any help would be appreciated thanks
