I'm thinking about buying a cheapy sound meter from Radio Shack to see how quiet a dB Snorkel makes my bike. I'm also interested in getting some dB measurements in case my pissy neighbor wants to sue me over my right to ride on my own land.

Does anyone out there know how to perform a "real" sound test? How can I know the engine RPM? Anything else to consider?

Thanks!

Wow, $59 to download that standard from SAE! I know other standards are much more expensive, but I'm a little surprised at that one. So, $59 for the standard, plus $50 for the sound meter, plus my time...maybe I'll just install my dB Snorkel, forego the measurements and call it good...
