how to tell fork springs apart

I have two sets of ktm fork springs which I didn't label, a set of 40's and a set of 42's. All 4 are the same length and the coils are all the same thickness when checked with my micrometer. one set has 27 coils and the other set has 28 coils. I assume the set with more coils is the softer 40's. Am I correct?
