There hasn't been much action in here at all this summer. I'm wondering how all you ladies are doing and what you have been up to. I'm sure everyone was working, but I know someone had to have done something exciting.

As for Phil and I we both worked all summer and did about one race a month. We purchased our first home, well it's a mobile home. We all have to start somewhere. We didn't want to pay rent anymore. So this is a start, it's okay. Not what we want, but we couldn't find any houses around here we were too interested in putting ourselves in more debt for. So we went the cheap way out. It's cheaper than what we were paying for rent though.

The only road trip we got to take was to the Red Bud National. Not much of a road trip though, it's only a couple of hours away. :)

Phil started working for a Yamaha dealer. This might eventually mean I'll have to go Blue...

Our summer riding started out kind of slow, but for the past month we have been able to ride for free every Tuesday. Phil's boss has a small track at his house and let's us ride for free. Which is cool of him.

For once Lake Michigan wasn't too cold. The water temp actually got up into the 80s. So we went to the beach quite a bit. One of the beaches is like 4 miles away, so it's convienent. We also started going on some nice long bike rides.

I think that's about it. Hopefully next summer it will be a little more interesting!

Okay, so now I want to hear from everyone else...guys you can post too! :nener:

I did a lot actually! I started riding this spring late due to a broken (and rebroken) arm, then I hit the trails a few times but spent lots of weekends at the lake with my parents. July 4 I had to cancel my Canada trip :( to pick up my 95 Jeep Wrangler :) and then I spent a couple weekends wheeling with my Jeep buddies who I've been jealous of for a while. I made it down to Portland twice to visit a couple good friends I don't see often enough. Then I met a great guy and spent a lot of time on weekends with him, doing more Jeeping and some hiking too ... then I moved to Colorado! I've been here almost a month now and am starting to feel somewhat settled. There's a MX track nearby and CJ Rider isn't too far south, so I got to ride with her (Hurray!). Then I got a new puppy! She is SO SWEET! Needless to say that takes a lot of time.

that's about it for me.

Your puppy is so cute! I wish I could have my dog where I live :( What track are you close to in Colorado? When Phil was going to school at the Univeristy of Wyoming we spent a lot of time driving to the tracks. There isn't much to do in Laramie and he was missing his bike pretty bad. So when I came to visit (about once every other to two months, lol) we would go watch people ride. Berthoud is pretty sweet and there is another track. I can't think of the name. Some people we talked to called it the "Jump Track". Seems like there was another track somewhere in there too. You are in the NE area of the state?

I forgot to add that on the weekends that we could actually ride we had to spend time at Phil's dad's house. He has had the property for sale for a couple of years now, and we finally talked him into cleaning up 30+ yrs of "collections". Then in the last month and a half it was getting stuff ready for the auction. That took time. There was the entire house from attic to basement to go though. After that we cleaned out the old pig barn. Which is a huge round building that at one time housed pigs. For the last 10-15 it has been used for "storage". Then there was the Big Red Barn with 30+ years of stuff to go through. That has a hay stacking area then below that an area for tractors or whatnot. Then on the back side is yet another area for stuff and then a cellar. After the barns and house there was the 80acres to go through. A lot of stuff has sat in the same spot for 20+yrs. Mostly farming equipment for asparagus and corn. I think that month in a half was the hardest I have ever worked! After the auction was over it was well worth it. His dad got a nice chunk of change from it.

Rubi is a 5-month-old border collie mix.

Berthoud and Milliken are the 2 I hear about the most but there's a club track right near where I live in Sterling, Pawnee MX. It's a decent little track--just really slick with super soft berms right now! I'm learning a new way to ride, for sure ... am more used to better traction!

Milliken that's the name of the one I couldn't think of. Is it Berthoud that has like 3 different tracks? MX, SX and Enduro or something? I remember the MX and SX for sure. Maybe there was a kids track too...I mostly remembering wanting to ride there! Pawnee MX...hmm...I can't get website to work for the track listings, says the server is down. I don't think that is the name they called the "jump track". I'll have to ask Phil when he gets home.

Pretty slow in here, isn't it?

Yeah, that's why I was hoping this thread would bring it back to life...It's been so long I can't even think of anyone's names anymore....

Let's see: I know Nikki is still around, met up with her and Red after Red Bud. We went to Motoland. Also met up with BClapham, Big Lou and uh oh...can't think of the names of the other couple that were there. I'm sorry! :(

Who else is out there...
Bbbom
Srellis
LoriKTM

Sorry that's the only two I can think of off the top of my head!

I'm heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrre!

It has been a CRAZY summer for me and Rooster.

We moved back to RI from IA at the end of April, and spent most of May getting settled into our new apartment and jobs.

Then we got married in July, and all of our time from when we moved out here until the wedding was spent on finalizing details, arranging for company, planning showers/parties, etc...

Things have settled down now, but it just seems like every weekend we have something to do. I've gotten to ride my TTR only TWICE this year so far. Hopefully we'll get in some riding this weekend. I've got my fingers crossed! At least the two times I rode this year were both at Paragon, and what great riding it was!

We went camping over Labor Day weekend and literally did nothing but hang out, drink some beers, play games with friends, and just relax. That was SO nice!

I took up Country Line Dancing just 3 weeks ago. What a blast that is! I'm trying to convince Rooster to go, but he's holding out on me. I doubt I'll ever convince him! I guess it's just something I'll have to stick to doing with my friends (and PK!). I think I know like 6 or 7 dances really well already, and I plan on sticking with it. It'll give me something to do to keep myself getting at least some form of exercise over the winter!

I start working at the farm in a little over a week until the end of October, so things will be busy busy busy for the next month and a half or so.

Then after that...time to settle in for the long, cold winter. :(

At least I'll get to relax (I hope!).

Squeaky! That's the name I couldn't think of! I remebered your avatar, but couldn't put a name to it!! lol

Your summer has been as busy as ours! Last year was our wedding, I forgot that this past June we had Phil's best friend's wedding. We were both in that and next fall we have another wedding that we are in...I'm just glad ours is over.

Sounds fun! Congrats again, Squeaky! You should try country swing--it's soooooo much fun, and quite a workout too. Just make sure your partner is sober because it sucks getting dropped.
Buko138, hope your ankle is all better now. Have fun at DW, wish I could afford to go. I went in 02 and 03 and it was pretty fun.

Bbbbbbooooommmmmmm is hhhhheeerrrreeeee!!!!!

Let's see, we took a road trip to Southern Oregon and camped ON the beach in a tent with our kids down in Coos Bay area. Headed north to check out the Oregon Coast. Took a ride in a 6 person dune buggy in the dunes - what a trip and when the driver said "Mouths shut" I didn't hear him and said "What? ppppffftttttt blech!" mouthful of sand!

We made it to Washougal for the Nationals and I made it over there to watch my son in the 12 - 13 yo 85cc class. He took 21st out of 42 - too cautious in the first moto getting 25th but stepped it up for a great 2nd moto taking 15th.

Karl got a fractured ankle in a head on dirtbike crash on the mountain at home. Didn't know it was broken and had to ride 23 miles to get back home. I broke my shift lever off on the same ride just after his crash (don't know how that one happened) so had to finish the 23 miles in 1st gear on the crappy stuff and put it into 2nd for the less crappy stuff.

Weather was turning too hot, dry & dusty anyways so we switched to jetski's. Poor Karl was stuck on the sitdown with his cast in a dry bag but at least he got to have some fun. We did some cool rides down the Coeur d'Alene River & into a cool lake through a tiny inlet.

Rains are coming back and he should be able to ride soon.

Helped host a successful Ladies Ride with 18 women riders in attendance.

I've been mountain biking with a couple friends from work at lunch - they just started but are marathon runners so they smoke me on the roads over to the trails but I get to laugh at them trying to climb the hills and whimpering on the downhills.

Kids are back in school, Fall MX Series is starting so I'll be pit mom once again for the two little racers. Daughter (10 yo) bumped from the KX60 to the CR80 so she's not sure about racing now. I told her I'd race the Women's Class with her so she may just get back into it. Hope I survive - I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow. I'll have to get a picture of my big beast woods bike WITH the giant desert tank lined up with the 125's, 230f's, 250f's & 80's. :) :ride:

Congrats to all the newlyweds and new homeowners!!!

Tracie, I miss my old double wide mobile home, mice & all everytime I write a check out for the mortgage on the new house!

Woohoooo bbbom on the MX track! Just knock 'em all down off the start by careening sideways. I did that once (long ago and not in Spokane).

Are Lacey (KX125) and Debbie (RM125) still racing? Can't think of last names right now. Tell them hi for me if you see them. Also Kalee and her sister ... sis was on a quad when i was there last, Kalee had really stepped it up ... Lots of other good gals on the line out there but I kind of lost touch with everyone. :(

wow everyone has had a busy summer!! Good luck in the MX race! Show those girls what that CR500 is made of! I wish my mom could still ride with us. She is 43 and just found out she has Osteoporosis (sp?..too tired to look it up), so her and my dad agreed no more riding for her. That's really sad, she has been on dirt bikes since she was about 9. I feel so bad for her. At the same time afraid for me, now I have to be sure to take more Calcium and keep working out like I have.

Dune buggy rides are fun! We went on our first one right after that wedding. The bride's dad has worked at one of the places here on the lake forever. We didn't get the normal "tour" :p

Bbbom (why can't I think of your real name :bang: ), Phil hates the trailer. We are in a park and have no garage...it was either this or keep paying $600 a month to rent. I told him we can use one of the bedrooms to work on the bikes, but he doesn't want to. We have three and only really use one. One has the weight bench in it and the other Phil's computer and the cat litter boxes area. Hopefully this won't last more than 5yrs...

Thanks guys, it'll be entertaining that's for sure!! I actually had fun last night at the track with Pat & his little buddy but it is kinda frustrating to watch my 12 yo rip through the whoops like no big deal on my bike - it's the RIDER that's for sure!

(Tracie, it's Lori) ;) I never did well in close quarters either. Now my nearest neighbor is 1/2 mile away and I'm HAPPY with that!

Kalee is racing Sportsman Women now and I think Deb Long bumped up too but she sold the RM and is waiting for an 06CRF250R (hubby works at AllSport so the Suzuk had to go).

Other than that I'm not sure who's around. We weren't out there at all over the summer but the kids (Pat mainly) want to do the Fall Series. I heard that they had like 7 women in the last Supercross race there and they had 8 in the Women's Class at the North Idaho Fair Arenacross!

Of course I'll have a full ride report next week!

lil_green_monster, a pit crew with a photographer!!! Woohooo, I'm a PRO!!! Just don't email the pics to my kid! :yikes: He's been waiting to get even with me for showing off his sunken 80 pics! That would be great if you guys can make it! We'll be in our normal spot just inside the gate if it's available - just look for the BIG pink bike!

Checking in!!!
My boys spent most of the summer either riding or playing baseball. We were preparing to attend Ponce City with hopes that both boys would do well. Between ball practice twice a week and ball games twice a week, it was tough getting MX practice. I helped coach. We took first in the regular season and second in the playoffs.
Four weeks before Ponca, my older son broke his leg. :( Bad thing is when we took him in to get it looked at the doctor didn't x-ray up high enough and said he just had a very bad sprained ankle. So he started PT and after about 4 weeks of no improvement they re-x-rayed and showed the break. The doctor was VERY apologetic. I was not happy to say the least. Took him to a specialist who said he'd be OK but there was nothing we could do at this late of time. It's been 9 weeks now and he still hurts.... Little brother was also very disappointed when we said we couldn't afford to take just one kid to Ponca. Next year  I had a bad get off about 6 weeks ago and I am suffering from numbness in the area of a very deep bruise on my leg. I'm still trying to get up the nerve to do some big jumps. Everyone, including my husband, says I have the speed and now have the technique but I just can't do it. I have no trouble with the 35 ft tabletop but my brain says no to the 27 ft double....Next year  LOL.
I have been to Berthoud and it was really great. The main track is awesome!!!!
Catch you later, need to go wash some gear.....

Srellis, how far away are you from me, I wonder? I'm in NE Colorado now. If you ride in CO again, let me know, and we'll have to plan a Kan. trip.

I know what you mean about going for a table and not being able to do a double. I'm facing that at my local track. It shouldn't be a problem, but it is ...

We live in SW Kansas, right next to the CO border and one county up from OK. We were in Berthoud for an MX school a couple of years ago. We have been attending races at Lamar Co. There is one there next weekend, the 18th. Not too many tracks here on our side of the state of KS or that side of CO. We have a track at Dodge City that is pretty fun, but we have been traveling to tracks mostly in OK to get to some really good tracks. They had the RMXA Amatuer Championship at Lamar last weekend. Took last, as ususal..... Some of those girls are really good!!! :aj:
Where do you ride?

You are way up North and we are way down south!!! The kids have been wanting to ride at the track in McCook, NE. but we haven't been able to coordinate weekends. I know there is a great track in Norton Ks, but I think this is their last year open. If I were you, I'd stay in CO. Too many neat places to ride compared to Kansas...lol!!! Hope you enjoy your new home!

It's pretty cool so far, but I'm still out in the flat part and towing my bike trailer to the mountains can be an expensive proposition. Still, at least they're within a couple hours ... and I hope I get to play with the Jeep now and then too.

I'm still around (sort of). Don't have much time to post. We're just nearing the end of our winter which means we're about to hit our farmland riding time.

We've been doing dual sporting rides and general forest rides. Summer's looking great. Anyway, thought I should just say hi.
