Hi,

I have a 1999 Husqvarna WR 250 and I can't seem to get the jetting right on it. With the stock jetting: 35 pilot, 400 main, and needle in the 3rd position, it ran too rich everywhere and fouled plugs. I now have a 30 pilot, 390 main and needle in the second position, and now it pings when letting off the throttle but is still rich in the 1/8 to 1/4 throttle range.

I was wondering what others with this bike are running. I am at sea level to about 1500 feet at 70 degrees F.

Thanks,
Domenic

I rode a 00' WR250 all last year and the best combo I found for Summer (75-110 deg at 100 - 1,000 ft.) was 32.5 needle, clip #2 pos, 390 main. In cooler weather I ran 32.5 pilot, clip #3, 400 main. This carb is real finicky to jet just right.

It can be a pain to jet right, and requires experementation. I ride with a bunch of guys on wr250's, and none have the exact same jetting. Mine is the leanest with a 27.5 pilot, 2nd top clip stock needle, 360 main. I have boyessen reeds though, which require leaner jetting. The type of fuel you use can have quite an impact too. With another brand of regular pump gas, I need to richen things up to 32.5 pilot, middle clip, 380 main. Good luck :).

I have just found this but appears to be old, but helpful. I write you from Spain, Europe.
I own a 2000 Husky wr250 and have the same problem, it is too rich. The jets are 35, 370 and the needle clip is in the second position form down side, fourth from upper side. This evening I will try the needle position in the middle, third. The temperature is 50-70 degrees and altitude is 3200 to 3200 feet.
Also it consumes all the fuel in the tank for 60-70 km. I think it is short distance.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you very much.

I fixed it by going with a Keihin PWK. The 38mm is a drastic improvement over the Mikuni. I am going to try a 36mm for better low end.

Thank you for the answer. I will try this weekend with the settings I wrote before. I think the bike would work right with the stock carb. If not, what kind of design the factory did?.
