husqvarna 510 air cooled

does any one know why the air cooled head on a air cooled husky of 1984 vintage get's so hot. i have already had to junk one head as it went soft ,the valve seats sunk in to the head.
I am using the water cooled piston and a ally liner in stead of a cast iron one. but not a very high compresion raito.
I have checked the ign timing and that is ok and the jeting.
I am told this normal for the air cooled huskys to be runing high head temps. air cooled Honda's dont have the same problems why is this?

The early Husky 4T models were not much more than a 2T motor with a 4T cyllinder and head attached. Honda cools the ignition and head with oil (over twice the oil volume), whereas the Husky used oil only to lube the cam shaft and rocker arms. The early Husky 4T was built as a lightweight bike with a great powerband for racing, it made no apologies about some of it's bad manners.
