I hate racing!!!!

Have you heard of a thing they call a "TENT"? How about hooking up with other XC guys and sharing the costs? You'll let a silly little thing like money keep you racing little bitty circles. Why not just take up BMX? J/K:p I race to get away from my wife:p

Four of our 11 enduros this year (SERA) are going to be 7 to 8 hour one-way trips for me. Usually KDXfile and I toss two bikes and all of our gear in the my F150 and head out Sat afternoon or evening and find a motel as close as possible to the race (many times this is 45 minutes away). We drive to the race in the morning just in time to sign up and get the bikes off the truck, then we're racing. Afterwards, pack up, wait for trophies, and head home. The problem is that I never get to hang with anyone the day (night) before. You know, kick back with a few good imports and tell lies:eek: So I end up at lots of races with fellow DRNers and never get to meet them.

My thoughts, either an enclosed trailer so that I can haul the extra camping gear, or a camper. Problem is my wimpy 4.6L is just that a wimp. So, you got it, what about the 7.3L Powerstroke and a big kick butt camper; keg system included:cool: Problem, the wife:uh: For some reason she thinks that remodeling the house should come first.

My solution this year is to make all the races I can that are less than 5 hrs each way. The weekends that the races are in LA or AR, I'll go riding at my club (1 hr drive). This will cost me a year end finish but hey, I got my first place helmet this year:cool:

As for taking up MX, I'll let the wimps who are afraid of trees do that;)

By the way, after you buy that Powerstroke and RV, you better be heading to AL for the Southeastern Spodefest.

I actually enjoy being a full-fledged member of the shoe-string budget racing team. I've slept in my tent, in my truck, on the ground and underneath an EZ-Up during a rain storm. To me, having 50 to 100k invested in an RV right now is ridiculous. Sure, they're nice, but then you have to deal with maintenance, storage and of course poor gas mileage. I'll put that money aside and buy an RV when I'm retired and can enjoy it.

Is renting an RV not an option, or does this blow the shoe string budget concept :)

You should come over here, and have a great vacation.
You can ride desert, coral cliff,woods and it takes about ten minutes to get at a starting point.
After the ride, plunge into the blue caribbean sea !
