I need help identifying carb parts

I am reading up on Jetting and will be attemping to jet my carb this weekend, but I am having trouble identifying whats what. First off is the Idle screw always lower than the air screw, or is there some way to definately identify the 2 from each other? Also in this jetting article I see that they mention the "slide valve", is that just the big slide right in the center of the carb? How is that adjustable?

And I cant tell the difference between the pilot jet and just the regular jet needle. The main jet is the largest need in the middle of the slide right?

A factory service manual would be a huge help! You could also look at online parts diagrams for your bike to get a rough idea.
