Youll get used to your new bike.
Mine is a yz125 99 so is newer but i guess its about the same. It also taked me a while to get used on how to start it.

Make sure the petcock is to on(and that there is fuel/oil and so on).
If engine is cold use the choke and no throttle.
If the engine is hot, no choke but some throttle.

I found mine to start well these way and its also what my Yamaha manual say.

If it dosent start then check at the air filter if its clean, check/change the spark plug.

Also if you live to a cold climate and the bike is jetted for hot climate it will hardly start/run.

Hope it help.

If that bike is jetted stock, you may damage the motor in -30 air temps. Colder weather means it will run leaner, you need to richen the jetting. Get a manual.
