Ok, heres the deal, im buying a KTM, thats all there is to it. I have three bikes which i am choosing from, and since i dont know the different year models really well for KTM's i need some help deciding which one is the best deal and which one a semi experienced trail(maybe a little motoX)rider like myself should get.

bike #1
1997 KTM 250 EXC, set up for Alan Gravitt, definitely fast, extremely powerful for a 250, a little rust here and there(rear sprocket, little stuff, mainly appearance), but runs great and is set up great for woods. price 2700$

bike #2
2000 KTM 200 EXC, BRAND new with all the goodies, bark busters, RAD valve, so clean you can eat off of it. price 4500$

bike #3
1998 KTM 200 EXC, this bike is also so clean you can eat off of it, but it is a 98. Also this one is about 1000 miles away, where as the other bikes are only about 100 miles away. If this bike wasn't so far away I would definitely buy it no question, but I just dont know........price $3000

Any advice is greatly appreciated becuase im not really familiar with mods and changes on these year bikes by KTM

I think I would buy the 2000. Mainly because of distance, and the goodies. I agree with you, if the '98 were closer I would probably buy that one.

I just drove 1600 miles round trip to pick up a bike. It's super sweet...I mean looks new, 2000 model Gas Gas for $4000. GasGasBill who I bought it from was honest and described the bike perfectly. I would be reluntant to buy a bike sight unseen and have it shipped and 1000 miles is a looooong way. Go with the 200 if you can afford it.

That 2000 model is the way to go. You'll have hassle free riding for a couple of seasons if it's already been run in and jetted sweet.
