FYI (if any one cares), I installed a C6001, 120/100-18 rear tire today on my 200H. I was concerned that that size of Maxxis tire might be too big even though Maxxis tires are sized a little small compared to the Dunlop I had been running on my KDX. My D756, 100/100-18 was nearly identical to the new Maxxis. The casings were exactly the same width. The knobs on the Maxxis were 1/8" wider at the widest point and the diameter of the Maxxis was probably less than 1/2" taller. I say probably because since my Dunlop was worn out I had to guesstimate its original diameter. Those measurements are with both of the tires when installed on the bike and aired up. I'll probably run it at 10 LBS since it's a 6 ply rated tire and seems to have a very hard rubber compound. I used to run a C6001, 100/100-18 on an XR200 that I recently sold and it had pretty good hook up and wore like iron. I'll soon post a ride report.

Hi. Glad to hear someone mounted that tire in that size on a later model KDX. Looking forward to what you think about it compared to your 756 & more detail on how it hooks-up on loose debris like sticks mixed with leaves on loose soil on a uphill single track section. Thanks!

Cool. what about fitting an earlier (1994) KDX 200? Is there a difference in clearance between older models (1989 - 1994) and later years (1995 - 2004)?

Sounds like the Maxis tires and sized similar to the Michelins. I was running 100/100-18 back when I ran Dulops. Then, I switched to Michelins and have mounted both the 120/90 -18 and the 130/90 - 18 on the rear. The 120 Mich and 100 Dunlop are almost identical in size. the 130 will fit, and doesn't spin as much. I went back to the 120 on my last set of tires.

How much does that Maxis tire go for?

I like that tire. Woorks good pretty much anywhere - except braking. Hooks good even in soft stuff despite how hard it is.

I had a Maxxis C6001 on the front of my XR200. I would categorize it as average for hook up...not bad but nothing to write home about. If you really pushed it you could push the tire past its limits. My new 120/100-18 sells for $42.99 plus just under $9.00 for shipping (to my location) from rockymountainmc.com. The problem is that they are back ordered 'till late June so I had to pick it up locally for more ($68.95!!). List is something like $75.00. I'm currently running a M12 Mich. on front of my KDX.

 Has anyone tried a Kenda 110/90x19, K771 Millville Medium Terrain. My buddy is running it right now and the performance/wear seems good. How does it compare to a Maxxis Maxx Cross I/T and Maxxis c6001? My rear tire is shot. what size should I run for these brands.

RIDE REPORT

I rode my new C6001 120/100-18 in desert conditions (rocks, gravel, sand, hard pack, sand whoops, and hill climbs) on Memorial day (that's "Mo-mole" day in NYC.). Hook up was superior in all conditions. It didn't have too much traction though; it would power slide predictably whenever I needed it to. I admit that I didn't pay too much attention to braking. If it would've done anything out of what I consider predictable I certainly would have immediately noticed. I'm real happy with my purchase. My main fear with buying this tire was TOO much traction (due to its large size designation). I'm happy to say that that wasn't an issue. The 200H had plenty of power to pull it and never came close to bogging down with too much hook up. I have yet to try it on soft or wet conditions so the jury is still out there. My year old Michelin M12 also was outstanding in these desert conditions. I have a little concern with the M12 because it is a pretty light weight front tire for banging through the rocks, but so far no flats or bent rims. I'm running 12 lbs. in front and 10.5 lbs. in back (cold). My biggest fear for a front tire is washing out in a corner. So far the M12 is the best tire I've had for staying stuck to the ground in corners (my main front tire experience has been with Bridgestone ED11, Dunlop K490, Metzler, Maxxis C6001, and several IRCs). The M12 is very predictable.

I've got a Kenda Millville (K771) rear on my 89 200 (e series) and its been a great tire so far. I ran it while I was down in the desert and it seemed wear pretty good. It's been working fairly good here on the coast as well. My brother has run the Kenda Southwick on his KLX400 and it also seems to be a great tire.
