For a first bike, yes they are good, reliable and do not require a lot of maintenance.

Good for beginner stuff, but for competitive racing it's not a good bike.

yeah, i am a beginner and am hoping to get the 230. i was just wondering. i probably wont be racing any time soon or ever. i just wanted it for trials and maybe some jumps.
