Is an XR250R too much power for me??

4) Do you have any riding experience? 4 years on xr80 and xr200

6) Are you mechanically inclined and will you be doing your own bike work? Yes
7) Do YOU have a preferance to a brand/ motor choice (2 or 4 stroke)? 4 stroke
8) Do you have a dealer close by your home that you might use and what brand(s) does he carry? All brands

12) anything else that you think would help form an opinion My parents think this is too much bike so I want some info from the experts. :)

Deffinately not too much. I had a an xr250 bored to a 300 when I was your age. As my father always says "you can break your horns on anything that goes 20 mph." Just convince your parents you can handle it by handling the bike when you go to check it out!!!

p.s. dont tell them the "you can break your horns" part, just convince them you are ready for the next size, I'm positive you are!!!
