Is the 2003 KDX 220 a good bike?

My friend is selling his 2003 KDX 220 and I'm thinking about buying it because my 88 KDX 200 is getting a bit long in the tooth. But, my KDX 200 is much faster then his 220. I have my 200 jetted correct with a DG muffler. His 220 is stock and needs rejetting and a pipe and the gearing is much much lower on the 220. The 200 is faster off the line and faster top speed. Would the basic mods make the 220 as fast as the 200. THANKS

Put a rev on her, throw the AIr Box Lid Away (Put Panty Hose Over the Top-Pre-Filter) and get an RBD Mod or buy a 35mm Carb, Jet correctly. Oh Yeah-Power Reeds or DF3. You will feel a big difference

Hey thanks Green, did you change your gearing (sprokets) at all). I'd rather not mess with the carb except jetting. What do u think the 2003 KDX 220 is worth. It's in pretty good shape. (I use to live near Orange county NY).
Thanks

With the proper set up the 220 should be a fine addition. Since it is designed to have more low end power it may feel a little sluggish, but should be good once set up with all the necessary goodies.

The late model 200s will have more top end, but the 220 will have more bottom. Like they said, carb ( mine was $50 from some online auction place), lose the airbox lid and a Rev pipe also online fro around $140.
