in motorcyclist magazine. there has been a series of articles about an amatuer road racer who sold everything and moved to the famed isle to learn the TT course and race it. all the while he has been documenting the whole thing for a future book. this months mag hit the mailbox and it was some great reading. i still think you have to be crazy to go that fast on a road course as long and dangerous as that one. one of these days im gonna go.

There is a video that shows a lap of the IOM TT course from a bikecam.
Wow, is that some scary stuff, never ceases to amaze me that they can go that hard on a street course.

Went there about 1978 ,we took a bus to one of the many viewing spots, the roads were then closed to all traffic,we were at Greg Na ba.Saw Mike Hailwood racing a ducati. The bikes come down from the Bungalow to Greg Na Ba at an awesome speed, where there is a 45degree (approx) corner. The roads are about 10 foot wide with grass hedges either side, people were sitting on these with their feet hanging over. When you walk through Douglas (the capital) there are so many bikes you'd think you had died and gone to heaven!

i am so jealous^^^. one time i saw this person with a very old and faded t shirt with the isle of man race on it and asked her about it. she said it was one of the greatest vacations she ever had. i talked to a complete stranger for 30 min about this very cool race.

I would love to go see the IoM one day, dont know about racing there though. They have street racing over here to, not as long or fast, but get up to some pretty fast speeds and u can stand less than a metre away from the fastest part of the track!! i did it was they went past and thought i gota get away from this, too fast and too close for my liking!! But still a very cool thing to do on Boxing day, have been going with my dad since i can remember.

I recall seeing a bike going around the circuit on the back wheel, there was a rear outrigger fitted to stop the rider flipping the bike, i think his name was Dave Taylor. That year Honda brought out the CBR1000 it was an in line six cylinder and they loaned some to the marshals, and they were escorting him around the course.I can't remember the make of his bike.
Food for thought, Dave Taylor died of cancer,Mike Halewood died going for fish & chips, and last but not least Barry Sheene has died of cancer. When you think of the feats these riders have done and the speeds they were going.....
