I'm looking for 2 peices of info. Bike smokes more than it should yet runs well. Jetting recomendations and thoughts on oil in the airbox.

1. Jetting - 03 220, stock carb, air box lid removed, gnarly rev pipe, turbine core spark arrestor (recently re-packed) wesco piston (fresh), ported (nothing radical just cleaned), milled head, torque ring, boysen dual stage reeds, ride at 8000 ft approx 70 degrees, low humidity, silkoline comp 2 premix 40:1 current jetting 40 pilot, 135 main, needle one step leaner (clip moved up one slot). Plug is a bit black an sooty. The bike has a small bog off the bottom but runs fairly well but smokes more than it should? Appreciate any Ideas.

2. There is continually what smells like premix pooled in the airbox on the carb side of the airfilter. We've tried no greese no oil on the filter ( in a clean environment) and it still occurs? Crank seals have been replaced. I've been told it coud just be blow back through the carb but it sounds fishy. Thus the question on jetting. Any thoughts would be welcome.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think your pilot should be smaller but you will have to experiment to find out how much. The main also sounds to rich but then again you will have to be the judge of that.

Read the sticky's at the top of the main page here. Then go to Eric Gorrs , Jeff Fredette's and Canadian Dave's site and read every thing you can find on jetting the go do some plug chops.

Well after hours searching these pages, working through eric gorr's correction table and talking with local Kawasaki Service specialist here is what we have reached as the best option:
138 main
38 pilot
Needle in the second postion.
Air screw 1 1/2 out

Rode around 25 miles tonight at about 7500 ft ran like a champ! Off idle bog is gone, revs farther and much more lively down low. Boysens make the bike run rich so the extra drop in pilot was appropriate. Thanks to Bill at Vickery motorsports in Denver!
