jetting and muffler packing

i believe i am running rich so i think i need to adjust the clip to the needle. i is now on the second to the bottom out of five. how much do you think i should move it up. my exhaust is drouling and there is oil on my engine where my exhaust pipe is located. or could that oil mean i need new packing.

The packing is there to absorb sound vibrations if its full of oil it needs repacking, you may have to pull it out and look at it. If you're running rich the motor will be lazy, if you don't know go 1 clip at a time. Make sure the pipe is sealed to the exhaust flange.

Repack the silencer FIRST. Make sure the float valve is sealing and the height is correct. If you can find someone with a leak-down kit have it checked. If all this is good jetting should be easy.
