Help Just joined , and just purchased a 1991 KDX 200 , will have lots of questions or at least searches

Need more info to accurately answer the question.
So do you have the light/fender assembly already, but it doesn't function as a brake light? I honestly can't say if there were KDX's with a rear light that wasn't also a brake light, but I doubt it. If the light works otherwise, look for the brake switch/spring, etc. Fairly cheap part to replace.
The switch/spring, etc., are located behind the number plate. End of the spring connects to the brake pedal. Pic is from a 96 but should be the same on your '91.
