I want to convert my KDX-220 into a street legal dual sport but i was wondering if you guys know what i would need to do this. I'm getting the baja designs dual sport kit as the base of my conversion. I'm in MD and there's a 95 decibal limit on the noise output of motorcycles here. My bike has an FMF Gnarly header and a turbine core 2 silencer/spark arrestor. Do you know how much noise the 220 puts out stock? The big factor in doing this project is the noise and i need to know how close its going to be from 95 db. Also if you guys could recommend a speedometer that would be great for street(something simple and not too expensive) that would be great too. If you guys have any other suggestions as to what kind of DOT approved tires i should put on it or anything else that would be applicable to this project, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jordan

Take a look at the K-760 - Trakmaster II Tube Type (D.O.T. Approved) I have heard that they are better the the Dunlops and less money. http://www.onoffroad.com/kenda.html

Come to think of it I've used the Kenda 270's They are a little more street oriented then the Track Master but I think the knob type and pattern would give longer life on the street. The Track Master looks pretty agressive though and the price is good. That  is important if you are running any type of knobbie on the street as your knobe life will suffer so you will be buying more tires or swapping back and forth between good dirt riding knobs and not so good street occasional dirt knobs.
