My riding buddy doesnt have a computer, but he is trying to figure out a new bike. He has been riding an XR350 for about 15 years. He is 6' 240lbs. and not in the greatest shape. He is thinking about the KDX200 the KTM300 and the XR400. Riding will mostly be on dirt roads, some small hills and alot of creekbeds and fireroads. Not much tight stuff really.

I am trying to help him decide, I think probably the KDX200 is underpowered for him, and the KTM300 has great power, and so does the XR400.

Its a tough decision, but which would be your vote for an older fat guy kind of bike to have fun on?

there's no comparison between the ktm 300 and the xr400 imop. i have an 02 300, father in law has an 00 400. The 400 is a great bike, but it's a bit small even for me at 6'0 225, and doesn't have a great bunch of power on top at all....

I'd recommend a 300, because it CAN be fast, but has lot's of low end for just putting around..

but, if he truley will ONLY putt around..the xr400 would be a great bike, either of which can be purchased for 3-4 k just a couple years old.
