Chirac blasts eastern Europeans over pro-American stance, warns on EU membership.

French President Jacques Chirac launched a withering attack Monday on eastern European nations who signed letters backing the U.S. position on Iraq, warning it could jeopardize their chances of joining the European Union.
"It is not really responsible behavior," he told a news conference. "It is not well brought up behavior. They missed a good opportunity to keep quiet."

Chirac was angered when EU candidates Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic joined pro-U.S. EU members such as Britain, Spain and Italy last month in a letter supporting Washington's line on Iraq against the more dovish stance of France and Germany.
Paris was further upset when 10 other eastern European nations signed a similar letter a few days later.
"Concerning the candidate countries, honestly I felt they acted frivolously because entry into the European Union implies a minimum of understanding for the others," Chirac told reporters after an emergency EU summit on Iraq.

He warned the candidates the position could be "dangerous" because the parliaments of the 15 EU nations still have to ratify last December's decision for 10 new members to join the bloc on May 1, 2004.
"Romania and Bulgaria were particularly irresponsible to (sign the letter) when their position is really delicate," Chirac said. "If they wanted to diminish their chances of joining Europe they could not have found a better way."

Sounds like the same old spin on the "Temper Tantrum" they threw before Round I. Of course with their history of surrender who is going to listen to their advice on war or foriegn policy for that matter?

Hell, I'd like to see it go as far as having France force the issue. That is, go ahead boys. Bring your beret'-wearing stinkin'-ass cigarette-smoking brown-toothed freaks into Iraq, and bring it on. Just make sure to line the entire posturing Hollywood Actors Guild up front--our boys 'll mow them down first, just to get rid of the rusty rounds.... ;)

It's no coincidence that Iraq owes France some $4 BILLION, a in part from the sale of weapons... if I'm not mistaken, Iraq represents 50% of arms sales from France. Seems as if the French don't have the nads to USE arms, but do well selling them.

Germany? What do you think they are selling Iraq? I've heard the speculation, but looking forward to some evidence. It would appear that the outsiders aren't concerned about "peace" as much as they are their money. Like anyone really believed otherwise?

So far it has all been legal yet questionable machining tools, computers and such that can have a dual role.

More interestingly is North Korea who just took a shipment of a form of cyanide that is one of the base chemicals in chemical weapons, sold by Germany. Not to mention dropping off a load of SCUD missiles in Yemen.

Germany sold eight mobile laboratories to Iraq in the 1980s, reports the German-language New Zurich Newspaper.

According to a story in the Swiss paper yesterday, Iraq received the facilities for the purpose of producing biological and chemical weapons. Development expert Hans Branscheidt claims he personally saw the vehicles in action on several occasions in 1988, reports the paper.

"What is certain is that at least eight of these mobile laboratories were delivered from the Federal Republic of Germany to Iraq as late as the end of the eighties," Branscheidt is quoted as saying in the New Zurich. According to the report, he also confirmed his comments to the Reuters news service.

There seems to be a lot of different games being played :think:

There are also some rocket engines that the iraqis have been testing, apparently exceeding provisional limits set by the UN.
Both buyer and seller of these items know the capabilities of the engines.

My, won't it look bad when the truth is finally known about who the real war mongers are?
