Kick start stuck on a KTM SX 500 -95, help!!

Hi there

I have a KTM SX500 -95.

It's in a good condition with regular oil changes.

But now my kick starter is stuck!!
I just can't push the kickstarter down...jammed!

I opened the cluch engin side side up and did'nt found anything broken...
The engine, cluch basket and gearbox is able to rotate by it's self.


Any suggestions??

you might wanna check your piston and make sure u havent seized it up. i just had the same issue with my bike

He said the engine, clutch and gearbox still rotate so i don't think he siezed it up. If its just the kick starter you should be able to look at it and see something broken or stuck. It's hard to help without actually being there.

or another idea is this sounds really stupid but look at the carburator and make sure the tubes, intake/outake exhaust etc., are actually on the carburator because i had the same exact problem and i looked it over and the tube wasnt on the carb so i put it back on put some pressure on the kick starter and it finally kicked down and then started up

Check the ratchet gear behind the kick starter gear and be sure the kick starter shaft is riding in the case properly.

By the way, KTM didn't offer a 500 in 1995.

kick starters are over rated anyway, find a hill and pop the clutch.
