I'm about to use the winter down time to finally do a top-end job on my 99 220 after 5,000 miles. I know the power valve parts are going to be carboned up, and would like to know if anybody has a solvent or parts dip they recommend that will disolve the carbon.

I find that taking them dry to a wire wheel mounted on a bench grinder works best. Oven cleaner may work, but I found the only thing that will get it off is scrubbing or the wire wheel.

Yamaha Combustion Chamber Cleaner

Basically spray it on, wait a few minutes and wipe off!
I had to use a brass brush on some of the parts to get into tighter spots

Works excellent on cleaning the S/A and pipe too.
