KIPS teeth wearing down - 1996 KDX200

I have noticed that the teeth on both the actuator shaft lever and the main shaft are wearing away. It doesn't appear that they ever meshed fully, and now they are notched where they do mesh. Nothing appears bent or anything like that. I am concerned because the respective parts cost a small fortune!

Has anyone else experienced this? Is the actuator shaft adjustable for height? It seems to be sitting a fraction too high so that only the tip of the teeth on the lever come in contact with the main shaft.

I just replaced all of my power valves when i did the top end. I didn't see anyway of adjusting the height of the metal rod. I have an extra one if you want it.
