I recently purchased a 1997 KLX 300 from someone here at DRN. It's a great bike, i've enjoyed it a lot.

I have a question though. When I've ridden the bike, the pipe is crazy hot. So hot that I can feel it really hot through both my knee pads/shin gaurds and my boots. Is this normal?

The pipe does not have a heat shield. Is this why it's so hot on my leg? If so, does anyone make an aftermarket heat shield for this bike?

Thanks in advance for any help!

They do get hot. Not sure about your particular model, but there have been a few folks that have built their own shields, but I don't remember exactly how...
