 Hi orange riders, I need a bit of a help. I've ridden my trusty klx for about a year('00, pipe) and have got to the point where my buddy on his RMX cant shake me in the tight, the open is another story. Anyway, I've had my fill of keeping this thing always at 8-9000 , I want some torque, but I still want tight handling, and it seems orange is the colour . I'd really like some feedback in regard as to which exc might suit. I've heard the 200 is surprisingly torquey and wants to be ridden as such, is that true? I've also heard that the 250 lights up the back end a bit too easy for the tight, is that true? and finally, the 300,a torque monster, but apparently good in the snot. Any feedback welcome. By the way I'm 6'2 and 200, thanx much.

Do You have a KLX or a KDX? If it is a KLX it seems the 400exc would be a move in the right direction. I have a klx and the ktm 400 or the honda 450 will probably be my next bike. My KLX is probably making more peak HP than the KTM 400 so I might wait till 03' to get the new KTM 450....
to many decisions...

The right EXC

I own a 2000 300 EXC. Some of my friends have switched from the 300 to the 250. If it is too snappy you can get a bolt-on flywheel weight for the 250 or 300. I rode a KLX 300 and a 200 EXC the same day and thought the KTM 200 had plenty of power compared to the KLX. The 400 EXC is nice esp. if you like the 4-stroke power but it's a bit heavier and feels bigger than the 200 or 250. I'm considering a 200 for the very tight stuff. I also weigh in at 200lbs.
