Announced today in the UK:
"KTM have confirmed their 250cc electric start four stroke will be a 2002 model.
Press launch imminent and production bikes will in the UK during Feb 2002. No price as yet."
Trail Bike+Enduro Magazine June 2001.

Awesome. If ony I could afford to have two bikes in the stable. then I could have two great, yet very different, 250 EXC's.

There is still a good chance the 250RFS will not see N.America. A lot of KTMs are sold in Europe before they come to the USA and Canada. My dealer still tells me it wont be coming to N.A. for 2002.

Unless it's a WR250F beater (i.e. lighter than the 400/520 RFS) I may pass. If it ends up being a 125/200 chassis based bike with a downsized RFS engine (ala YZ426/250F) then I guess you can never have too many bikes.:)

As if the 250F is the standard.......

I would be willing to bet the current RFS motors weigh about the same as the 250F motors. Throw an E-start on the WR250F and I bet its not much lighter. KTM needs to down size the chassis to 125 scale, and dump the E-start and they would be in the ball park. Who needs an E-start on a wimpy little 250 anyway?
