I was wondering if anyone would know how to do this and how much this would cost. I would like to make a KX 100 to a KX 80 without changing motors. Is there any way? I need to for my son because he races Hare Scrambles, and they do not allow the 100cc bike. If you know about this, your replies are very appreciative.
-Thanks

The only thing that I could think of that you could do would be trying to change the bottom end too a kx80 and get a kx cylinder and piston and rod, and all the nessassary parts too run the thing. Off hand I dont know If it is possible but then again, it could be if you could get the cylinder off the 80 too fit on the kx100 but I wouldnt think so!

The stroke on the new KX85 and KX100 are the same, so I would suspect that the only difference is the cyclinder and piston from same year kaws. But I'm not sure. By AMA rules you can run to 85cc in the 80 class. One other thing you need to look at is the wheel size rule. In motocross at least, you can't run over a 17 inch front rim in the 80 class and the 100 has a 19 inch front which is the max size for the 100cc boy racer class.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies. But, does anyone know for sure if this could be done. If it can, what parts are needed, and how much would the price be?
-Thanks

A ported cyclinder from Eric Gorr is $350. A Wiseco piston kit is around $70. You might e-mail Eric, I bet he would know.

The parts list should include;
1- cylinder
1- head
1- piston kit
1- gasket set
1- KIPS valve (1998-2002)
You may as well buy the KX85 parts because its AMA legal and later model parts will be less expensive. Try TUF Racing for a price quote on new OEM parts
