KX Rear fender for 2001, AND black rad. shrouds

Dear KDX-ers,
I know this has been hashed out several times, but most of the previous posts I read were a little lacking on clarity. I own a 2001 KDX 220, which is relevant to my questions.

Did anyone ever find a source for black KDX radiator shrouds? I'm assuming that KX shrouds from some year do not fit the KDX?

Also, what KX rear fender fits the 2001 KDX's best? I want to install a green fender, then attach a UFO taillight/lic. plate holder assembly, the exact same one KTM uses stock, to the fender. Obviously, I want it to look stock. Is it possible to change to the KX fender without cutting any frame pieces?

I'm at a huge disadvantage here, I don't even HAVE the bike yet, so it's difficult for me to see even the obvious issues.

I hope the current owner gets the title issues worked out soon. I'm wetting my pants waiting to bring it on home!!!

Thanks for your input.

First time poster. Is it just me, or are the icons of the dancing bannana, and death metal lion really annoying in the peripheral vision while you're trying to type?! Oh, I just adjusted the window size. Thank God that worked!

ACTUAL KX fender

By the way, I mean an actual KX fender, not the Maier one. I've never seen it, but some have commented it is rather large. But, who knows, it may look exactly right with the taillight assembly attached to it. Maybe the KX is too small.

One member suggested a 2003/2004 KX rear fender for the KDX, but I find it hard to believe considering the KDX frame dates back to 1995 for the H model. I guess stranger things have happened.

Any comments?

Thanks.

Welcome Shontsy,
Here is a photo of a KDX with the Maier black rear fender. It looks very perportional to the bike and while slightly larger than the KX, it fits so well that I don't think the effort to hack up a KX fender is going to leave you any happier.
BTW what does Shontsy stand for? :yeehaw: :aj: (couldn't resist!)

Thanks for the picture. It looks very good. I guess it's possible. I'll just have to wait until I get the bike and take it to the local parts barn for test fitting.

LOL, thats my KDX. I DO NOT reccomend putting KX plastic on it. At least not 2003 KX plastic on a 2002 KDX. Nothing fit and I had to cut every piece of plastic to make it somewhat fit. It was held on with homemade brackets and wire. If you really want KX plastic get the frame to go with it too. I just got finished stripping my bike and I am waiting on the chassis to come in the mail.

I am not selling the bike anymore. I am just parting out what I don't need for the KX 125 conversion. Sorry for anyone that emailed me and I didn't get back with you, I've been very busy. Who ever was wondering where they got the pic from it was probably from KDX Riders Community on MSN. I have a whole slew of pictures there. Here is a link to see some more pics of it if your interested....
