We are flexible. What time for you? I can take the big camper, and save some $ on the spaces.

Nice report. Good pics of that nasty ravine you tried to jump. When I was 14, I tried to jump an arroyo in the Calif. desert in fifth gear; cased it on the far side, bounced upside down, flew 40 feet and landed with the bike on top of me. I punctured one lung, broke my foot, my shoulder blade, and breastbone, and scraped hide off lots of my upper body, as I was riding in the 115-degree heat without a shirt. (I was 14 and invulnerable.) I almost died in the desert, but an old guy, friend of my father, came looking for me and took me to the hospital an hour away. But enough about you. LOL! Anyway, glad you walked away from this one with just some scrapes.

JMD, how is your collar bone? I saw on one of your reports you had a one inch gap to grow back. I was curious where the one inch of bone went to? That sounds very discomfortable, painful, & loose. I am impressed that you rode your bike 15 miles back to camp, ouch. I broke my left collar bone a number of years back, and I remember the strange feeling of the shoulder moving back and forwards. With in about 3-4 weeks I had broken the same bone 3 more times. Now I have a large bone build up that is irritated from wearing the shoulder-seat belt. Any way, I hope you are doing well. Looking forward to kiamichi trails. Thanks, Noel.

Hey, Noel, thanks for the kind words. The collarbone is starting to get sticky inside. The one-inch gap came when the bone broke clean through and kind of sprung apart at a right angle to the length of the bone. One part is now a little higher than the other, causing a bump in my neck area, near the shoulder. They say the bone will flow between the gap and fill it in, but I'll always have a bump. I'm not going to take any chances on breaking that bone again; I'm going to take it easy for at least another month. But I'm buying a new GPS that will make it easier to find our way around the Kiamichi, and will be easier for my sons to operate in case I'm incapacitated, which I hope won't happen again. I look forward to riding with you guys. Lust says you guys are ugly but pretty fun to ride with, and that's good enough for me.

I know what you mean Jim. My riding gear while growing up consisted of sneakers, pants & shirt. Looking back now I'm amazed I didn't kill or permanently injure myself with all the riding and crashes. It was a different time, and a different frame-of-mind. (I love my gear now!)

On a happier note, I think I just discovered another serious trail-rider in my family. My 2nd oldest daughter, Talia, came with us to Muenster Saturday. She had never ridden anything like Muenster, and hadn't ridden in several months. I was amazed at how quickly she learned. She rode with Benjamin and I on some challenging trails, and was unafraid to take steep loose hill-climbs.

I didn't let her take anything dangerous for her skill level, but it was clear to see she has a talent for this. Neat.
