anyone know anything about a 1989 lc4 600 motor if it is good,reliable,problems,any thing about it? what is the main difference between the lc4 and the sx 4-stroke?

The LC4 is currently very reliable based on many years of service. It's a low tech engine compared to others, but still good in a V8 kind of way. 1989 is quite a jump, though, I wouldn't put a lot of money into something like that.

IMO the LC4 is a sound design which was high tech when it was introduced (4 valve head with roller cam followers, water cooled). They are handicapped by their bulk, weight and 5 speed transmission. I would suggest you consider only counter balancer equipped LC4’s as the non counter balancer motors are real paint mixers! Mid 90’s or newer with a counter balancer should be OK. The bikes themselves are large, tall and a little heavy but they are well made and the newer ones are quite durable.
