Hey, I just finished putting my cr250 '99 together after a full crank rebuild. I also had to weld and fill inn a hole in the crank case. Now when I run the bike there is slight dust-attracting moisture around the bottom cylinder seal (front left). I tightened the bolts as much as was possible but the leak persists. I am not sure whether it is oil/fuel or water from the cooling circuit. The bike runs well...
should I worry about this? what could happen if I just leave it?

It could be spooge coming from the pipe. I know when I put my new pipe on my YZ250, I didn't put in the inner spring/spacers in the pipe and it leaked spooge until I fixed it.
If there is a leak at the bottom of cylinder it has to be fixed. Try lifting the cylinder and spraying the paper gasket with some gasket sealer, then torquing down to spec.
I say take jug off , do a good inspection . For what a gasket cost u might as well get a gasket for ur troubles of inspection .
I assume that u are seeing coolant leaking . If u haven't done this job before . Get a manual ! Not that its a big job , a manual will awnser any questions u might have .
I had the same problem after rebuilding my 99cr a few years ago. I lifted the cylinder a few times but could not get it to stop leaking. I was using aftermarket gaskets and spraying them with sealer. Went back to the Honda gasket w/sealer, problem solved. It may only be a slight water leak. Or it may be leaking directly into the cylinder, which causes dirt/air to be drawn into the cylinder during the compression cycle. Not good.
Thanks for the feedback. Gaskets are kind of hard to come by here in Africa, could I use one of the high temp silikone liquid gaskets instead to seal the leak?
