After over a year of a slightly drooling gas-cap on my 380 I had enough.. Previous attempts at a fix included replacing the cap and rubber piece, and taking extra time to make sure the rubber piece was seated properly. All for naught.. Then the other day I was inspecting my gas tank filler opening carefully to see if I could figure this out.. I noticed two very minute scratches on the top of the filler hole.. They were about the size of a hair and almost un-noticable.. Hmmm, I thought, could this be the problem? I decided that my filler needed a refacing, so, I placed a rag into the tank, and located some sandpaper. I stapled the sandpaper onto the flatest 1X4 I could find in my woodpile. Then being careful to keep the wood and paper in full contact with the mouth of the filler I carefully sanded until the marks were gone.. I then used a piece of the finest grit paper I had to polish the surface, and slightly chamfer it.. Then I put a small coating of grease on the filler opening and screwed the cap on, then removed the cap and looked inside.. The grease showed the contact points.. I then filled-er-up and took a test ride.. Drool problem is solved..

zilla.. yes I removed the rag
