There is a guy who frequents my local mx track who does suspension work. He seems to have a good rep locally and I have never heard anyone say anything bad about his work. He appears to be in his late 40s, early 50s and he makes a living at this as his full time gig. Says he's been doing it for 20 years and his story checks out with some other guys at the track. His pricing in in line with most of the bigger companies...a few $ less give or take. The big benefit to me is that he lives less than 15 miles from me, so no boxing and shipping and turnaround is < a week so I don't miss any riding/racing time.

Is there anything I should be leery of here?

talk to others at the track that have used him and ask for their input on their experiences. Then have a discussion with the tuner and ask pointed questions. His replies should help you decide if he is on the same page as you are.
