i currently have a 2001 yz 125 and i like it alright. its worked good for the past 2 years but i think it is time to step it up alittle to a good ole 4 stroke. i know looks isnt everything but i really just dont like the look of yamahas. plus i hear their 250f's are not all that. i was wondering what 250f you all think is popular in looks and engine wise. i want the best lookin and runnin bike i can get for my money. thanks guys

But the CRF250R is a good racing 4-stroke. And the CRF250X is a good trail bike. And it can be raced. The honda's are nice because they are known for their reliability and somewhat easier to wrok on than other 4-strokes.

If you're buying used, and want to get something in the $2000-$3500 range, you're best off looking for a '03-'05 YZ 250F. What's not to like about the looks? But more importantly, Yamaha has a pretty good history for reliability with their 250F, plus the motor has always been strong. If you're buying new, I don't think you can go wrong with any color, although the reliability of the RMZ/KXF has been a little questionable at times, and the CRF is known for the intake valves tightening over time.

I've owned a YZ250F and CRF250 and have had good luck with both bikes. My last 2-stroke was also a '01 YZ125 just like you... and once I took some laps on a friend's YZ 250F at Cooperland/DRN's Dirtweek in 2002, I picked up a 250F a few weeks later... I would never consider going back.
