Anybody here know where to find a CanAm MX6 model in decent or better shape? In the Midwest, preferably. These were the stealth bomber black models (so how come none of the other companies use black?)of the late 70s/early 80s (it's late and I'm too lazy to walk over to the book shelf to get the exact year).

Looking to either buy one for the AHRMA Post Vintage (stupid name) National series or do a story on one or both.

Fred Brown has/had a lot of CanAm stuff. He raced CanAm quite a bit in AHRMA but seems to have switched to CZ. If you would like to contact him email me and I'll give you his email address.

Mike Rydman has a for sale/wanted section on his classic Can-Am website, occasionally there will be one listed for sale there or you can post an add there asking to buy one, if I'm not mistaken the MX-6 was late 70's but then again I haven't looked much at the mx bikes. the address for Mike Rydman's site is http://www.motocross.com/vintage/canam/canam.htm

good luck.

This link is not an MX-6 but it looks like a good buy on some Canned Ham. It's located in Houston and the guy wants 795 for it. Might be worth looking at.

That link will also take you to a good example of a Rickman 125, an early Maico, a 78 KTM 390 and various Huskies. Just scroll down and have fun.

The MX6 was a 1980,and all orange. The black model was a 1977 MX3 (orange fenders, black graphics).I owned both. Do you know which bike you're really looking for? FYI - 1978,mx4-orange plastic, grey frame 1979,mx5-orange pl. frame grey or orange (not sure) 1981 MX6B all orange, but I believe it had an aluminum swingarm.

doug e: thanks for straigtening me out. I KNEW that, just got myself confused while writing the original message. I always thought the black Can-Ams were the sexiest, and since six and sex both start with "S", I always think of that model as the MX-6. Duh . . .

Anyhow, now on the trail of another Maico, so may have to put my Can-Am lust on hold for a bit.
