Cool the crank in the freezer and put a droplight (gets warm)between the cases for 10 minutes or so to help install easier . Dont take all the gears apart unless you want to inspect them all and leave the shift pawl assy alone unless you want a little puzzle to put back together .Use rubber bands to hold the gears together . If the rod is shot and the crank has been rubbing the cases you should deburr the scorched area if the cases with a file so the gaskets match up properly .Dont let the center gasket slip out of place before tightening cases . Good Luck
