Just purchased a 2002 DRZ400s. Any way to lower the seat height? It's a bit tall for me. Suzuki sells a lower seat, but is there anything else I can do?

Kouba sells a lowering link for the rear suspension. Then you can drop the forks to match.

I did the Kouba III's on my S, and dropped the forks as far down as I could, worked for me. Did however find that I bottomed out easily. Bike was stolen before I could fit a heavier spring.

You get almost 2 inches, which really worked well for me.

I have a Gas Gas Pampera now, and it comes considerably lower with a 34 inch seat height :)

Hmm, I'm thinking about getting a Pampera to go with my DRZ. Do you have any opinion about it?

Thanks for responding guys. What is a "Gas Pampera"? It that a different shock?

Its a new Gas Gas trail bike with a fairly low seat height. Uses a derivative of their trials engine, but with an exhaust powervalve (I think) to get a little more top end out of it.

I've lowered my '00 S with the long Kouba links, then raised my forks in the tubes about an inch and a half. Had to raise the bars to get enough room to raise the fork tubes. The change really softens the rear end and I bottomed out over almost anything. I re-valved the shock. I'd suggest re-valving the shock rather than getting a stiffer spring.

Bike is about 2 inches lower and is pretty close to perfect height for me now. I might try the lower seat or cutting the seat foam.

I was dropping the bike all the time on the trail before I lowered it. It hasn't been down since.

OH yes, forgot to add, I had to get another set of bar clamps in order to drop the forks, also had to get longer bolts as well, and when refitting the handlebars, had to bend the ignition mounting slightly, easy to do.

Norm at Kouba is a great guy, accepts PayPal and will ship them right on out. Had my local dealer fit them when they did a service.

Yes, the Pampera is a Shock ... to the system, it is a fun little bike, would make a great addition to your DRZ :D
