A local rider (shop mechanic) around here has a Maico 250 and 500 enduro (mid to late '90s). The bikes have lots of torque and appear to have all the right parts. They seem to be excellent bikes for the trails in my neck of the woods (roots, rocks, steep hills, and lots ofa water). They remind me of my old '88 KTM 350 enduro 2-stroke (my favorite all purpose woods bike). Question is: what do people know about the new Maicos (2000, 2001)? I understand they are made in Germany again (yeah!).

I didn't hear about that. I hope they do a little redesigning on the motors to get rid of the stupid left side kick starters.

I never considered the left side kick starters to be a problem ( half of my bikes have been left side starters), but I know some people do.
