Main crank bearings have rubber shields at all?

Do the main crank bearings have rubber shields on both or even one side of them. I got these bearings for cheap from a bearing shop instead of paying too much for them at a bike shop. I can't remember if the old bearings I took off my old crank had any rubber shields or not. Anyone know?

They should not have any rubber seals on them. That is a so called sealed bearing.
The rubber shields on those bearings are to keep grease in and water out. Crank bearings are not greased, they are lubed by pre mix in the crankcase.

If it is a quality bearing, just remove the seal. Poke a sharp object in the seal and pry it out.
