I thought I heard somewhere that Michelin tires are sized differently. I have a Dunlop 100X100X18. What size would that be in the Michelin? Why are they different?

Michelin sizing is different, but Michelin usually now puts a yellow sticker on them that gives the "normal" sizing as well.

I was bored the other night so I went to Michelin's website. They actually have the chart to convert the sizes on there. They do the tire size the same way (width X aspect ratio X rim size) so the only difference I could see would be if they measure to the widest lug while others use the sidewall to measure? I know its trivial info but i'm still interested in why.

Walmart has Michelin motorcycle tires in some locations... good price, too.

The display at Walmart only had "Michelin" sizes, but it wasn't hard to figure out which one was the equilant size.

As far as marketing goes, it's bad form, IMHO.
