Miss Supercross 2008, Sara Lipert is set to attend this year's Garrett Michael Berg Memorial Race. Miss Lipert will be at the track Saturday Oct. 6th for a couple hours then all day Sunday during the event. She will be available for photos during that time so long as she isn't on the track riding her own bike.

This will be the sixth edition of this race now dubbed "Garrett Michael Berg, Remembering Those Who Rode" Memorial Race taking place Oct 6th & 7th at San Jacinto MX Park in Splendora, Tx. It honors those in our sport who have lost their lives for one unfortunate reason or another. In 2006 Robbie Reynard of Arenacross fame was in attendance to race and honor those fallen riders.

The GMB race started as a way to remember Garrett M. Berg, screen name Motoman393, on Thumper Talk. The main purpose of the Garrett Michael Berg Memorial Race is a fundraiser for the Garrett M. Berg Foundation. The funds purpose is to raise funds to help others. This has become an annual gathering of friends and family to come together to remember not only Garrett, but a sadly growing list of people taken too soon. This event is a weekend event held every year at Splendora MX Park just north of Houston, TX. Friday night the Berg family hosts a welcoming party at their home. Saturday is practice and catching up with old friends at the track. Longtime friend of the GMB cause, Howard Lobel, hosts another gathering at his house. The Saturday evening festivities include beer can chicken and bench racing at its finest. Then comes Sunday race day, where it’s not so much about the competition but about the camaraderie. There is also an auction held on Sunday at the track. Splendora is the same track at which Garrett died in his father’s arms on September 22, 2002 at the age of 17 after an accident in one of the turns.
