I bought a '91 KDX 200 last year. The previous owner said to run it at 50:1. I picked up a repair manual for it, and it said 32:1. The cylinder was honed, and the piston has new rings. Its a stock motor other than V-force reeds. Which ratio should i mix at???

You just opened "the" can of worms. In my experience, if you run a high grade ester based synthetic, 50:1 or even 60:1 is fine for trail riding (like Motul 800, Amsoil Dominator, redline, etc.). If you're racing then drop the ratio down to 40:1 or 32:1. That's what the oil manufactures generally recommend on the bottle - and they have no incentive to recommend raising the ratio when riding at less than race pace.

Fredette rides the piss out of his bike at 50:1 with very little wear.

I mostly trail ride and run Amsoil Interceptor at 50:1.

Just my 2 shares of Enron.

Ditto

Golden Spectro bottles even mentions 62:1! I think that's for trials riders though.
We run 50:1, trail riding. Keeps the smoke to a minimum.

The 32:1 rating is just a safety for Kawi so if someones engine locks up running less oil it isn't technicaly their fault. Probably should run extra oil in a new engine anyways.

i use klotz oil- i think it is the best out there-
32- 40:1
depends on pump fuel- or race fuel-
always check the plug to make sure its nice and tan/ dark tan-
i would not go leaner than 40:1 unless it is crappy oil---
