mounting hardware - 400 exc tank/shrouds

I have a 400mxc and will be putting on a used exc tank/shrouds. I have been told that I need:

1. 8MM * 1/2" long bolthead for tank to framemount.
2. (2) 8MM * 1" for Shroud to radiator.
3. Rubber grommet for tank.

Last time I tried to get this type of stuff from dealer - it was backordered. I would like to get from Hardware store. The bolts seem simple enough - but anybody have any suggestions on the grommet (size,etc..).

Do I have this right?

I can't think of what grommet you'd need that your MXC doesn't have. Do you mean the one that goes in the hole on the top of the tank to hold it to the frame post? Doesn't the MXC have that, too? I put an MXC tank on my 01 400E (for one ride and re-sold it) and it was not a big deal. You should be able to find the bolts at a HW store.

Yes that is the grommet you are talking about.

You will need the following hardware:

KTM Part # Description

0015 060123 HH Collar Screw M6X12 WS=8
503.07.014.000 Tank Roller 12X26X12 (I think this is the grommet you referred to)
- You should have these first two as they are the same for MXC/EXC

0015 060163 HH Collar Screw M6X16 WS=8 Quantity:2
503.08.052.000 Bushing For Spoiler 6X11X16X5 Quantity:2
0017 060203 Special Screw T60 6X20 Quantity:8

The last item is one that you didn't list in your original post. It is a coarse thread screw that goes through the shroud and into the tank plastic.

Ok - I am set on the hardware and grommets. Now the last mount from shroud to radiator do not match up? Am I missing something easy?

Make sure tank is on correctly on frame. If it is , loosen radiator bolts until you can position radiators to shrouds

I will know this weekend. I didn't realize you could adjust the radiators. I am not the most gifted mechanic - and that is an understatement. I will post again with the results.

Thanks again - I am happy with the transaction regardless - the tank and shrouds are what I wanted and expected.
