Hi guys, at the monent i have a KDX 200 which I use for trail riding. I like my bike but want MORE power. Does anyone have any suggestions, I was thinking of a 125 mx but then i don't think there gonna have the grunt I want. So im now thinking 250 2 stroke, i might get into motocross so would prefer to stick to the mx bikes. Anyone have any suggestions on 125 or 250, yz or rm etc, im looking between the years of 1995 2000 model. Thanks all.

I rode a '96 KDX200 for about 5 years. Just prior to it, I had a YZ250WR. Owned a KX125 and KTM 200sx at the same time as the KDX. I now have a YZ450F. 125 MX has ZERO bottom end. They are big fun track bikes, but your KDX is more versatile, IMHO, and better in the woods. YZ250 is an excellent all-around bike. Put a flywheel weight on it, larger tank, spark arrestor and you've got an excellent woods bike. Pop the stock tank back on and ride it on the track. I would get the newest I could afford. That KTM200sx was a superb all-around bike, too. Just had some quirky issues and I feel more comfortable with Yamaha.

i might be going from a kdx200 stocker to riding a yz125 since i started track riding, set the suspen. for my weight and go! 125's teach you how to ride better.

It'll blow it away. My '03 KX125 was quicker than my piped '96 KDX200. Top speed, the KDX was faster but the KX was 1/4 mile away by the time the KDX got going. KX250 will be MUCH faster than a KDX. However, in the woods, this can be not such a good thing at times- be careful what you ask for.

A KX250 in the woods can be fun! I believe you'll be much happier if you are an average woods rider on a bike tailored to woods riding. A KX will require suspension revalving and re-springing to help soak up the small trail trash. This is quite expensive. Buy a WR, CRF-X, or XC-W if trail riding is your thing and be happy. Cheers.....

Check out a KTM 200. I ride a 220 right now and I'm possibly buying a 05 200exc this week. It's lighter, more powerfull, has decent suspension and fits my riding style better. See if you can ride one around, 200 are great in the woods IMO. With the frame of a 125 and a motor that almost puts out what a 250 does its an insane bike.

I think you would enjoy a KTM 200 or maybe even a KTM 250 exc or mxc they are great bikes that wouldnt need too much ajustment for trail riding. But it may be easier to find a used Jap bike

I rode a KTM 200 for the first time last fall. Awesome bike. Light, a great woods bike. Really, all the power I would need for what I ride (tighter the better). However, I have heard over and over again "will hang with a 250...... right there with a 250 in the power department....." While the 200 DOES make good power, my 250 will smoke it throughout the entire power range. Really, my 250 has almost TOO MUCH. I'm loyal to my dealer, I'd ride a KTM if they carried them.
