SERA will be using our new transponder based system. Riders will have a barcode in addition to the transponders.
All riders will be required to purchase or rent a transponder. They will be $15 each. If you don't want them after the race then riders will be refunded $10 after the race.
The system worked pretty good at the full scale test at Maplesville HS for the kids.

I don't see what the big benefit is of having the transponders. The bar codes seem to work fine. Mr. Larosche, could you explain to me why this is necessary? Just wondering...

I'm leaving B'ham at O'dark-thirty for the trip down, I can't wait.

Bandit - one of the problems with the barcode is that it can be slow to scan. During muddy races, it has to be wiped clean to scan. With the transponders, I believe that you can continue to move through the scoreing tent (no stopping).

Thanks for the reply Lemming. I got ya beat. I am leaving right now from South La. at 4:30am. I am asking myself......"WHY...WHY....WHY"...am I getting up this early?
