At the moment, all I can find on the MX class is this re: Moto 1 one from the AMA:

"Makita Suzuki’s Ricky Carmichael took the first Motocross class moto win in spite of a tip over. Monster Energy Kawasaki’s James Stewart led much of the moto until RC went by with a few laps to go; teammate Timmy Ferry took his Monster Energy Kawasaki to third. Davi Millsaps collected the holeshot check on his Team Honda 450."

Reed is an SX specialist now.

RC is an even stronger MX racer than he is an SX racer. He has always dominated everyone outdoors. Last year he finished ahead of Bubba 19 out of 22 motos (I'm not counting Glen Helen). And he is 3 out of 4 this year.

Now that RC is at the end of his career, JBS has the upper hand at SX (he finished ahead of RC 5 out 7 times in '07 and 10 out of 16 in '06).

Hooray for Josh Grant getting the overall in the Lites!

Looks like it is going to be a long year for Klatt. I know the Lites class is stacked, but I expected him to do better.

Why? You enjoy seeing him humiliated?

I was at High Point yesterday, that first MX race was a great race! The second was a run away by Ricky. But that first moto he rode the wheels off that bike to catch Stewart.

It was changed a few years ago to reward a moto win. It's not based on finish, it's based on points and a moto win gets you an extra point.

You're thinking 1-3=4 and 2-2=4 when you should be looking at 25+20=45 which beats a 22+22 that equals 44.

Actually it is based on moto finish position and the top 5 places get extra points for finishing high
1st= 25
2nd= 22
3rd= 20
4th= 18
5th=16
6th=15 and then down one point each until 20th=1

The tie breaker (such as 2/3 and 3/2) goes to the higher second moto finish position

This is how Townley who went 10/1 (36 points) got third place over Dungey who went 4/4 (36 points), Lawrence who went 3/6 (35 points) and on down.

I'd like to see the scoring the same as it is for local races.

Actually, I was right on the fence at the start of lites moto one. Townley went down about 1/2 way up the start straight. His front wheel got caught in another rider's footpeg and it destroyed the wheel.

Townley "only" got back to 10th after crashing, pulling off, having a front wheel changed and getting back out there. The leaders had a 2/3 lap lead on him when he got back on the track. He was freakin moving. . . He was faster than RV yesterday.

I'm still trying to figure out how 10-1 should beat 4-4, tho.

I hope RC leaves w/the points lead!!!

There didn't appear to be much question that he will. . . his total time made up on James was about 15-20 secs (catching him and the lead RC had at the end) - and RC fell over in a corner about 1/4 of the way through the moto.

In the first moto 3rd place Ferry was about 50 seconds back at the finish.

Heck of a Run by Millsaps.

First race was exciting, me and my friend ran from one section to another with our cam to get RC chasing him down and gettin the pass on video. The 2nd moto RC killed it, i was kinda shocked that you can get ahead of a rider like bubba stewart as far as 27 seconds. I geuss thats why he is the greatest.

figure it this way
10th place = 11 points
1st place =25 points

Tie breaker is best 2nd moto finish= hard to beat a winner with that 4th place ;)

I understand they have the points set up that way, but personally I think 4+4=8 and 10+1=11. I guess if I were running it I would base the overall standings for the two motos on your placing.

Or perhaps there are too many points for 10th... I like the fact that they reward a winner, but should a win worth more than 3 places (i.e. 11 vs 8 plus the tiebreaker)?

that's fine, but you need to take into account series points. The guy with the most points wins, not the least.
