Do your self a favor and get a kx100 with a fly wheel weight. You'll have a lot more fun. In a couple years get a bigger bike.

Im 15 and have a moded kdx200. its a nice bike. feels pretty small to ride. its a 95 and it can drag a 99 kx125 off.also much cheaper to maintain than an 80.

I'm almost the same as you(stats) and the KDX is a good beginner bike that will last you for a long time. If not a KDX a KX100 was my second choice. Its a great trail bike after you port it or change the sproket(and its still a racer if you like). The KDX is a good enough MX bike for a beginner too. Just don't get any older than '95. You can find a nice one this old for $1200 to $1500. A fairly new KX100 will go for that much too. A 80 is to small, I(5'7") just grew out of mine. I think Kaw's got what you need unnless you want to spend some mega bucks on a 250F or 200EXC.

Dig that kdx out of a few mud holes and you'll wish you had the 100. Plus if you ever race, you’ll be racing against kids like you not adults. Keep your eyes open and you can find a good used one. Just shop wisely there kids bike and kids will wear them out! You'll be smoking the Boy’s on the big bikes. The 100 has better seat / tank ergonomics ‘and it’s a thinner bike.
