Dont like DRN? Check out www.motocross.com forums, I gaurentee you will like DRN after

I think the "What bike do I get" forum has a great concept, but things dont always work as planned ;)
That is probably one of the hardest forums to moderate on the board, and Ivan does a good job with it

Code of conduct:

xyz.com is an informative, enlightening, and sometimes amusing way to spend time. Our ever-growing membership ranges from the 9 or 10 year old beginner to the old timer who was around for the dawn of dirt biking. In order to make the site the best that it can be it has become necessary to outline an acceptable code of conduct. Our goal is to give you the freedom that you deserve while keeping with the high moral standards our community.

1. Absolutely no obscene language. This includes the “F” word as well as sexually suggestive comments.

2. Since this isn’t a chat room, if you must talk to your buddy about the weather or going riding tomorrow, email or IM him. Better yet, pick up the phone. Bandwidth is expensive and the more back and forth idle chatter, the slower our site becomes.

3. No spam. If you want to show everybody your personal web page, that’s fine, but the thread will be locked to stop the seemingly endless string of useless replies. No unauthorized revenue-generating links will be allowed. It isn’t fair to the paying promoters of this site if we allow you free advertising space. This does not mean that you can not post links to legitimate sites that are related to the sport, or that are intended to help a member with a question.

4. Signature lines are a means to tell a little bit about yourself, not to make rude or obnoxious statements. If you have an offensive signature line, you will be asked to change it immediately. If you don’t, it will be changed for you, or you will be banned, depending on the situation.

5. There are certain things that are NOT allowed in these forums, period. They include, but are not limited to: racism, bigotry, hatred, harassment, adult content, obscene material, nudity or pornography, or anything that is illegal. These things will be grounds for immediate expulsion from the site.

6. Starting a thread, or making a post, for the sole purpose of flaming or bashing someone, will not be tolerated. The post/thread will be immediately deleted, and the poster will be warned. Three strikes and you’re out. Discussions, debates and disagreements among members are normal and make our site a better place but there is also an acceptable way to deal with the occasional disagreement. For those who refuse to live up to these acceptable standards, your membership days at xyz.com will numbered.

7. There will be Absolutely No discussion or promotion of illegal drugs or sex.

8. Your failing to follow our code of conduct or the request of a moderator may result in the termination of your access privileges.

9. The moderators of the forum have the sole authority to decide what is acceptable and what is not. The absence of a specific rule does not automatically mean that something will be allowed.

10. If you can’t find your recent thread, before you start fussing about it being deleted, look in the proper forum for it. It may have been moved. We have specific forums for each type of post, please try to keep your threads in the correct forum. Don’t ask engine questions in Anything Goes, and don’t ask about a movie in Tech Tips. If you post your question in the correct forum, you are much more likely to be answered in a timely fashion.

11. Topics about politics and religion are not specifically against the rules, but since these topics have the potential to be very inflammatory, and to bring out strong opinions and emotions in people, they will be closely watched. As long as everyone behaves, the threads will remain open. As soon as a member crosses the line, the thread will be deleted.

12. All Moderators have their email links visible to the membership, as does the Administrator. If you have any issues or complaints, or feel that something needs to be taken care of on the boards, feel free to email any of us.

That being said, does that relate at all to the fact that you finally got a "full-sized, man's bike." Maybe when your 13 yr old gets a little bigger, you can give him your tiddler, 125 bike?

LOL...He's on it now!

And guess what...I sound even faster on my new thumper than I did on my lil bike.
But we all know that sounds are decieving. :)

Ivan....point taken. I think you do a fine job, actually.

Speaking of "What Bike Should I Get" forums I was looking to buy my 6 y/o a 4-wheeler ( She can't ride a bike yet) and came across ATV addiction which had a forum on quads. You want to get a good laugh just look at that forum and it will make you like this that much more. I just have to laugh because all it turns into is my quad is faster forum and offers little help in purchasing.

Actually Daisycutter, I found several of YOUR posts fairly annoying, and possibly less mature in some ways than other NON-MORTGAGE-PAYING members' posts. By making generalized statements in this manner regarding who (in your opinion) "should" be riding a certain bike, you alienate a large number of members. I'm certainly not offended, but others may not appreciate comments making them feel like they are on a wimpy little bike. Part of maturity is also NOT worrying about how you look on your bike (i'm refferring to your comment that others would laugh at an adult on a 100 or 150)! Last time I checked, it was supposed to be about having fun riding, not posing and looking a certain way. If we are going to worry about looking stupid on a little bike, let's make fun of all the big people on single-digit-horsepower XR50s while we are at it. How dare they have fun on those dumb little bikes.

By the way, I ride a 2000 KX100 (among other bikes), pay a mortgage, taxes, etc. I am 5'11", 33 yrs. old. I brought both this bike and a new CR250 to Dirtweek, and had so much fun on the KX100 I actually rode that most of the time. When I was a kid, weighing in at 120 lbs soaking wet I rode a KTM495 (my only bike at the time) open class 2 stroker. I guess you could say i've "graduated".

I have no idea about your riding skill (nor do I care), but would venture a guess that a good rider (soccer mom or otherwise) on a KX100 wouldn't have much trouble keeping up with that big CR500, especially in tight single track.

My friend has a KX100 he keeps at my house, and I'll take it out for a ride all the time. Its a real fun bike, im 5-10 190lbs and It pulls me around pretty good. Riding is about fun, so if he wants a KX100 to have fun on I say go for it

While doing a delivery the other day a guy who spotted the "No Cash on Board" sign on my truck asked if that was because I was broke. I told him, 'No, it's because I'm married!'

Sorry '89r, I guess I'm starting to have those 'senior moments!'

Hi Daisycutter,

I'm the 40 year old man who submitted the question.
I've had a bad day, but this thread is making me laugh.
First I want to say:

Thanks for your opinion. Your advice was a big help.

I took the MSF dirt training class on a KLX300…three times.
For what I want to learn a full size bike is the way to go.

I just ignored the people squabbling with you and each other.

Now I’m looking for a good 01 or 02 YZ250F. They get a green sticker in CA.

I also subscribed to this site.

Thanks again,
Frank

It would keep up fine once I lash it to the back of my CR.
