A winter project we've been working on.

We're building a Monster KDX200.

We started with an 80 mile stock 2006 200.

Used Monster graphics from a KX250 and cut to fit.
New Wiseco top end with head mods and planed .015.
Cylinder blue printed and ports deburred.
Renthal bars, grips and sprockets. 13/50 gearing.
D.I.D. gold chain with ball bearing guide rollers.
Trail-Tech Vapor computer monitoring system.
Michelin M-12 tires front and rear.
Boysen 607 reeds.
KX front fender and Maier rear .
FMF torque pipe and silencer.
Hyde Racing glide plate.
Moose shift lever.
Acerbis hand guards.
Uni Air Filter with 2/3'ds cover removed
45 / 152 jetting with 50-1 , 94 octane.
Maxima 927 oil and 80wt tranny.
.36 front springs
4.60 FC rear spring
Many FX graphics , great quality

It's a Moose shift lever , stock length.

I think I'm going extend it 1/2 "

It's got the "look", does it have the hardware to back it up?

I hope you saved some money for suspension work.
I'd put the effort in on that before the graphics and plastic........

Tidy workshop, though.

With the Engine mods as listed I think it will be plenty potent for a 14 year old. I've got a 4.6 Race-Tech rear spring coming to balance out the suspension for his weight. The bike has 10.5:1 compression for pump fuel ,a Blue-printed cylinder and full FMF exhaust so I'm confident it won't dissapoint. :whoa:

Have you ever looked at the stock kick start lever real close ?
When it's out to start , even new the foot area leans backwards
15 to 20 degree's , so much so that your boot could slip off.
I took and cut the lever in half , ground a couple flat spots and overlapped and welded the lever inwards by 3/4 of a inch. It is now perfectly square with the bike when kicking and is the length of a KX unit,, for virtually no money.

Use a NAPA 3011 filter for the transmission breather hose , fits slick and lays right beside the air filter.

When I changed the rear spring I checked all the linkage needle bearings , even though not dry , they were very poorly lubricated from the factory. Use a high quality red EP grease and repack those babies, well worth the time.

I just took the kicker apart and welded a small bead on the base and the filed it back down to keep the lever from spinning around to half past 3 o'clock??

Hey I love your monster bike. How hard was it to convert your KX decals to cutting them to fit your KDX. Any problems with big spaces?

They were far from an easy fit and the shroud graphics had to be pieced , but the plate graphics are all one piece.
FX graphics are great , nice and thick and conform well with a heat gun.

I would have done the same thing but I wanted a shorter more compact kick starter .

The shroud graphics are FX # 12-12120 KX-125/250 03-08
The plate graphics are FX # 12-68020
The others are a universal Monster sheet by FX
I'm very impressed by the quality as their all made by 3M .
